There's a bit of chill in the air these days and I for one, am loving it!
It's that special time of year when we can bring out the sweaters and faux furs; put on the pots of soups and stews; and heat the oven up for making delicious, baked goods.
The Danes and Swedes champion Hygge and Lagom practices as a lifestyle. I'm embracing the philosophy of surrounding yourself with the things you love and finding just the right balance with a passion this year! Achieving it doesn't have to be fancy, expensive, or massive in scale. Enjoy the cozy, little things...
Now that the evenings are turning darker earlier, it's the perfect time to bring out the candles and twinkle lights.
We have the purple and orange lights of Halloween in the rooms at Cherrywood Hall West. I love the amethyst glow. 🎃
The firepit out back is getting lots of use at night. It's a great place to kick back and enjoy the crisp air once the sun goes down.
We have a few road trips planned in the next month--I can't wait to sit by the fire with my sweet nieces in central California and snuggle up in the mountains at Big Bear.

Now that we have the bookcases installed in our living room turned library, I've been enjoying looking through the decorating books I've collected over the years (in some cases, decades!). The pictures above and to the left are from a Southern Living book I received as a gift in the early 80s. These pages tell the story of a log cabin given an extensive remodel in Tennessee. I've been looking at these pictures for forty years now, still loving every detail. Perhaps, the Hygge hviske is trying to tell me something...

Mystic Magination Night!

On one mystic, magic night,
Jack O Lanterns glowing bright,
kids with bags of candy sweet,
roam door to door and street to street,
all dressed up for trick or treat!
Wizards with wands, pirates with hooks,
monsters and clowns with spooky looks,
kings and queens with capes and crowns,
a princess in her royal gown,
witches with warts and fairies with wings
movies stars with sparkling rings,
vampires with fangs that bite,
ghost that boo all dressed in white.
Imaginations taken flight,
on that one mystic, magic night.
Oh, the fun of Halloween,
be young or old or in between!
