"Either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing..." Benjamin Franklin
Like many writers this month, I've set my NaNoWriMo goals, slowly but surely achieving my word count objectives. I have to be honest--my challenge is based utilizing the months of planning that has resulted in an outline for book 7; Blood on the Vines: Harvest at Castlewood Manor. I haven't started from scratch, but none-the-less am doing my best to take advantage of the writing momentum this month. I've had stops and starts the past few weeks (life events: a brutal cold that refuses to surrender and hubby will be having surgery in the next few days) but I'm determined to 'git 'er dun....' by month's end. #NovemberWish
I've been following some of the #NaNoWriMo tweets on Twitter. Many writers are sailing through the challenge with the wind of words billowing through their pages.
Others, however, have been less prolific, spinning around in a rudderless, literary dinghy with modest headway. The anchors of discouragement can certainly weigh one down as writing plans start to sink into the depths of despair (I must admit--the memes/gifs have brought forth fantastic giggles though, big snaps for the humor! #Positive).
What to do, what to do...I wish there was a magic vaccine for #WritersBlock (Ha ha, just kidding!! #GotYa).
When my mojo goes MIA, I immediately head to our travel pics for inspiration and happy memories; I re-read fav blogs (Why didn't I remember that? #Duh); I collect more pins on Pinterest (I love my Set the Scene board); I listen to music (I'm enthralled with the wonderful music videos on YT)...One of my fav, southern writer pals just happened to mention she's currently learning Swahili...#WhyNot #Awesome #Fabulous
Bottom line, feed your brain with the good stuff! Don't let the anchors of despair and comparison take your goals under. If the #NaNoWriMo schedule demands don't work for you, change them up to accommodate your lifestyle. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' ways to do this challenge, pick the tips and tricks that work for you. Also, don't compare your progress against others on the Twitter timeline--everyone is different, with varying goals, diverse life situations---you're a bright and shining star, unique in your writing zone. Believe in you, and remember---there are circumstances where these fantabulous tweets with thousands of likes may contain, ahem, 'embellished' information and claims... #JustSayin #RecollectionsMayVary 💖👑
Wishing you all a #HEA end to your #NaNoWrimo journey! It's Wednesday, time for #DearDiary:

Dark secrets emerge this week from the writers of Twitter...
Author Wendy Bayne, The Brocklehurst Affair (Crimes Against the Crown), 5⭐
Lissa and Miles find themselves embroiled in a dark scandal involving claims of insurance fraud, family deceptions and an appalling practice that destroys the lives of many. When their brother, Edward's partner, Maurice goes missing, they accept an invitation to a Harvest Ball on All Hallows' Eve, embarking on a journey to Scotland with their friends and family in the Brotherhood to find him and expose the villains responsible.
A mysterious shipwreck leads to a dangerous trek to find the survivors and catch the kidnapping pirates. Joy turns bittersweet as a family's dark secrets are revealed and the nefarious deeds continue. Will Lissa and Miles sift through the tangled web of clues and deceptions in time to put an end to the pandemonium?
Author Bayne once again weaves a mysterious tale of dark intrigue laced with haunting moments in the 5th book of the Crimes Against the Crown Series. The settings and scenes will give you goosebumps in this chilling mystery. I'm a huge fan of this series--well done to the author, a highly recommended read!
