Veronica’s #WritersDiary, My Big #Reveal!

Dust off those crowns, what a way to close out the month of February!  I am super excited this week to finally debut the #bookcover and #title for the 5th book in My American Almost Royal Cousin Series— Double Trouble, Showtime at Castlewood ManorThe writing is going well and I’m on track (knock wood) with my schedule. I want to give a special shoutout once again to my step-daughter, Danielle Gregorio for doing the cover design, I have to say this is definitely a favorite! I always love having the book cover designed early–it helps me focus on the writing and storyline having a visual in place. I even splurged on a new ornament (love Mackenzie Childs!) for my book series tree–another visual to keep the #writing muse motivated! #Adorbs 🙂

For this story, I have my two leading ladies doing the sleuthing (with a little help from their friends), Lady Gemma Lancaster Phillips Williams, Marchioness of Kentshire, and her Malibu college friend, Rikkhe St. Claire, interior designer extraordinaire. As you might suspect from the cover, Gemma has big changes coming into her new life as Kyle’s wife, mummy-to-be, and, let’s not forget, the Marchioness of Kentshire—she’s going to need all the helping hands she can get!

When you throw in a scheming duchess from the past (Oh, those #AlmostRoyals!); major remodels at Cherrywood Hall (Just two more weeks mi-lady, hee hee); an unearthed skull (Auntie Pippa #UhOh); treacherous theatrics making a feature film (starring our favorite Mama); a golden labradoodle named Teddy (Ruff); and a psychic Scottish nanny (Figgy McEwen, luv her already)–you can bet there will be at a minimum, Double Trouble….Stay tuned for more details in the next few months! It’s Wednesday, time for #DearDiary:

A Valentine’s Day mystery from the #writers of Twitter this week…

Author Amy Reade, Be My Valencrime, A Juniper Junction Holiday Mystery, 5 STARS

Jewelry shop owner, Lilly Carlsen is set for a big sales day this Valentine’s Day, as customers flock in to buy their perfect gift. Her shop assistant Harry has an engagement proposal on his mind–will his girlfriend Alice accept? Lilly has her own special gift planned for her love interest, Hassan–will they take their relationship to the next level this Valentine’s?

Problems on the home front may interfere with the romantic plans as Lilly’s mother, Bev, who suffers from dementia, and her daughter, Laurel, experience health and relationship setbacks. When Harry’s girlfriend Alice is a no show to their planned Valentine’s dinner, everything starts to unravel, and a missing persons investigation is initiated. Lilly is determined to help her friend Harry, but her police officer brother, Bill begs her not to get involved. A hidden lifestyle shocks those who know Alice, and may be the reason she disappeared. As the days pass, the hope for her survival dwindles.

Secrets and family drama muddy Lilly’s investigative attempts, putting her close relationships at risk, and her life in danger. Unexpected twists and turns make this story a delightful who-dun-it read. I really enjoy Author Reade’s engaging style and characters–and those recipes at the end were a treat. I now have another cozy mystery series to enjoy, a delightful read, highly recommended!

Author Emmy Bennett, ARC,  Wynter Reign

This past week I’ve also had the pleasure of reading Author Bennett’s ARC for the 3rd book in her Storm Bloodline Saga, Wynter Reign. The storyline in this book is exceptional, written with multiple POVs from the core characters–a very tough endeavor for a writer to successfully pull off. This is an exciting, suspense filled, fantasy read and will be released later this spring. I’ll have a full review then, but definitely put this one on your #TBR!

Craigdarroch Castle #Inspiration

As most of you know, if there’s an opportunity to see a castle, I’m in! During our trip to Victoria, B.C. a few weeks back, we walked over to the stunning Craigdarroch Castle, originally built by the Dunsmuir family. It’s a four story home with grand views of the Victoria harbor and surrounding neighborhood. The inside is bedecked with rich wood paneling from Chicago and stained glass windows. Our tour gave us a close up view of ‘castle life’, great inspiration for Double Trouble! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Welcome to my world. Enjoy your #week and #weekend friends!

Crowns and Kisses,

Veronica

P.S. So enjoyed the afternoon tea service at the Empress–what a way to spend an afternoon–loved the scones and clotted cream (anyone have some recipes to share?)! Gemma and Rikkhe agree 🙂
