Veronica’s #WritersDiary, Happy #Halloween #Reads!
Trick or treat, finally! One of the first big celebrations to kick off the #holiday season is almost here–Happy #Halloween Eve! As you’re reading this I’m off to Dallas, TX for the Bouchercon2019 mystery conference–I can’t wait to see what happens there on the opening day, LOL. For this scary eve blog post, I thought what better way to bring in the hallowed night than to #read a bone shaking story… In honor of the spooky season, here are a few of the great #chilling #horror #paranormal #skincrawling #witchy #WaroftheWorlds #chocolate (hey, it’s a perfect time for a candy #mystery!) #books from the #writers of Twitter I’ve had the pleasure (and goosebumps, sprinkled with a few chuckles) to #read this past year. I think they may just get your heart pumping as you carve up those pumpkins and sip your brew 🙂 !

Sorrow and despair have brought the Yuletide festivities at Duncreag Castle to a standstill this year. MacNab clan chieftain, Archibald, “Archie”, has declared that no festivities are to be held, his grief for the horrible warring and devastating blows to his clan have proven to be too much for him, crushing his celebrating spirit. Irish lass Breena O’Doherty, torn from her homelands, now views Duncreag as her home, her esteem for Archie held close and dear to her heart. She wants this season to be a happy one for him, but she can’t do it alone. Grim Mackintosh, the captain of the guard at Duncreag, is determined for his laird to have a festive season too. He and Breena form an alliance to try and make it happen, but will their efforts prove to be futile?
Grim and Breena travel the countryside, encouraging their neighboring clans to come to Duncreag in an attempt to cheer their beloved chieftain. Their love for one another explodes in passion as they take their vows of eternal love. Their young bond strong, can they convince the clans to unite?
The spirit of the season is in the air, proving hope and joy of the Yuletide is eternal in this festive tale. A surprise visit from an uncle Breena thought had passed threatens conflict and disruption to the festivities. Will his presence and shocking secrets douse the flames of Breena and Grim’s union and sabotage their new found commitment? Or will the cheer of the season shine bright on all at Duncreag? A great read for the holidays, highly recommended!
