What a #week this is—all things #DowntonAbbey for me! T-minus two days and I will be finally getting to watch the highly anticipated #DowntonAbbey feature film. For those of you who have been following me, #DowntonAbbey is very close to my #writers heart. It was the end of season 6, and I still remember sitting on my couch thinking ‘What am I going to do on Sunday nights now that my beloved show has come to an end?’ I was a super fan, enchanted by the characters and storylines (and the fabulous Dowager Countess quips), and could never get enough of the rooms of the fictional manor house aka Highclere Castle, or the collectibles on Amazon. I started thinking the time had come to start #writing—but what?
I focused on the things I truly loved–castles, crowns, drama, fashion, and mur-dah. I kept thinking about the first question that popped into my head from my research: “Would you have a period drama filmed at your estate?” Not that I have a British manor house (except in my dreams, LOL). But then, the ‘little gray cells’ began to flutter—suppose there was a contest for a British TV period drama series to be filmed at your estate…add in a beautiful American heiress (Gemma definitely approves 🙂 ), recently dumped by a cad BF, who goes to help her #British cousin win a competition, with a dashing estate manager who catches your eye….Well, the ideas clicked and the rest is history, and a future #amquerying goal! I truly believe, when one castle door closes, another opens… It’s Wednesday, time for #DearDiary:

I just received notice from New Apple Literary that Deadly Receptions; the Debut of Castlewood Manor has received an Official Selection award in the Mystery category for their 2019 Summer eBook awards! A suspense filled read from the #writers of Facebook this week!
Authors Marcee & R.L. Corn, Always Thaddeus, the Resurrection, 5 STARS
The drama and suspense continues with this latest thriller by authors Marcee and Rob Corn. Andrew Morgan has been wrongly convicted of murdering his wife Sandy and is currently serving his sentence in prison. His first wife Beth’s diabolical plan to frame him has come off without a hitch, or has it? Beth aka Margaret goes to Barcelona to meet with a former, wealthy lover and begin a new life–but her fractured mental state and troubled past are beginning to show their cracks.
Craig, a coast guard officer, takes a heroic risk to save a woman clinging to life on a buoy in rough seas. The Jane Doe is alive, but her injuries are extensive–will she ever come to and regain her memories? Jan, a reporter who watched Andrew’s trial, starts to question the prosecution’s case against him. She meets with the beleaguered prisoner and finds new information. Her research leads to a chance encounter on social media that unveils a terrific twist to the story–but will she be able to prove it and convince the law that Andrew has been wrongly accused?
A woman deranged by grief sets the stage for a story with twists and turns on every page. Human perseverance and the pursuit of justice leads to a thrilling conclusion. A great read, highly recommended!
Next up in the #reading queue;
Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder…
Okay, corny I know….But Hubby gave me the #anniversary present I craved–my very own absinthe fountain (proving he does read the blog)! This little beauty arrived this week from Germany, and we have our lovely (although from the label it looks a bit deadly) bottle of absinthe to break it in with. Can’t wait to drip the icy water over a sugar cube into the green fairy liquor…I have a ‘clue’ this might have been served one time in the halls of #DowntonAbbey! And just in case you’d like to indulge:
Dun-Dun-Dun…(buh-bye Colonel Mustard)
A must have for any self respecting mystery #writer whose series is inspired by DA! 🙂
